Summer at Snowshoe
With 61 trails spanning 251 acres of ski terrain, Snowshoe is well known as one of the best skiing resorts in the Mid-Atlantic. But, it is also one of the best places for outdoor fun in summer. There are a lot of activities for all age groups at Snowshoe, located in the Monongahela National Forest. The Elk Spring Resort is a good place to go fly fishing on the Elk River. There are many lessons for you if you’re a beginner at fly fishing and a great fly shop if you’re an experienced fisher.Snowshoe is also a great place to go hiking and biking. It has 11,000 acres of untouched wilderness and beautiful views. The trails range from beginner level to professional. There are also Segway trails on the mountain if you’re tired or, are just a feeling a little lazy.
You can also learn how to shoot clays with the help of professional range masters. The courses travel through the peaceful woods. You can drop off kids at Camp Wildcat while you are off shooting clays. Kids will enjoy their day at Camp Wildcat doing various nature activities like swimming, rock climbing, canoeing and, paddle boating. Camp Wildcat is for children aging from 5 years old to 15 years old. If you’re not interested in shooting clays, you also go golfing, at the Raven Golf Club, located inside the Snowshoe Mountain Resort. The Raven Golf Club is a Gary Player Signature golf course with elevation changes that are hundreds of feet from the teeing ground down to the fairway, and varied terrain.
